LIFTED SOULS

Eliminating Gender-Based Violence for Victims and Survivors

WHAT IS GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE?

WHAT IS GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE?

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is violence directed at an individual based on sex, gender identity or socially defined norms of masculinity and femininity.

WHAT WE DO

Est. in 2018, Lifted Souls has adopted a 3-tier approach to eliminating Gender-Based Violence and its effects in our community. We minister to victims and survivors, providing support at all stages of the journey to recovery from this atrocity. We are keen to see the end to such trauma which is why we organise initiatives to challenge the social norm. We believe that together we can build a new culture - one that is free of violence and full of healing.

Our 3-tier approach involves uplifting vulnerable members of society including women and girls; upholding core community values whilst ridding those that promote GBV and aiding victims and survivors to unite back into the community. Violence of this nature causes people to become ostracised but we know there is healing in togetherness.

UPLIFT

Encouraging equality sometimes means giving a voice to some of the most marginalised individuals in the world. We are building a culture where no one gets left behind or mistreated based on their gender identity.

UPHOLD

Culture is important.

We always seek to keep the good things that makes our community distinct.  Where there are negative aspects that enforce GBV, we introduce new practices to eliminate existing violence.

unite

Re-integrating victims into society after a period of abuse is challenging due to stigmas and victimisation. Often survivors stay isolated making them more vulnerable. We create safe spaces and a local network for support.
